Domicile requirements for Tripura state quota
Tripura state quota at AGMC requires proof of domicile in Tripura. Key documents: birth certificate showing Tripura birth; Class 10/12 certificates from Tripura schools; permanent residence proof (parents' employment in Tripura state government, or long-term residential proof — typically 10 years of residence); category certificate (SC/ST/OBC) from Tripura state authority.
Tripura has specific provisions for Bengali-speaking communities and tribal communities (particularly the 19 notified tribes). ST certificate from the competent Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) is required for ST category benefit in state quota.
Overview
Tripura has one government medical college — Agartala Government Medical College (AGMC) in Agartala — which serves as the primary medical education and referral hospital institution for the state. Established in 1981, AGMC offers 100 MBBS seats: 85 in the Tripura state quota (Tripura DME counselling) and 15 in AIQ.
AGMC also has MD/MS programs in core specialties, making it the only PG medical training center within Tripura. The state's medical education is essentially centralised at AGMC — there are no other NMC-recognised government MBBS colleges currently in Tripura.
Tripura's compact geography and its position as the second-smallest NE state by area mean that AGMC in Agartala is accessible from most parts of the state. The competitive pool for Tripura state quota is modest relative to Assam, making government MBBS accessible at competitive but not extreme NEET scores.

NE perspective
Tripura's AGMC state quota is competitive but less crowded than Assam's DME counselling. With 85 state quota seats competing among Tripura domicile students (a much smaller pool than Assam), state quota NEET cutoffs at AGMC tend to be more accessible than at GMCH Guwahati. Tripura's tribal communities (19 notified tribes) benefit from ST reservation in both state quota and AIQ.
Geographically, Tripura is adjacent to Bangladesh and connected to the rest of NE India via a narrow corridor through Assam. Agartala is well-connected to Kolkata and Guwahati. Students from the Barak Valley (southern Assam) near the Tripura border may also consider AGMC through AIQ.
