Cutoff ranks below are based on 2025 data and 2026 projections. Official 2026 cutoffs will be confirmed only after MCC and DMET Tripura counselling concludes. Verify with official notifications before any decision.
Government Medical College in Tripura
| College | City | Total MBBS | State Quota | AIQ | Key Note |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| AGMC Agartala (Agartala Government Medical College) | Agartala | 100 | 85 | 15 | Strong ST reservation (~50% of state quota) |
Agartala Government Medical College (AGMC) is Tripura's only government MBBS institution. It has 100 seats — 85 under state quota (filled by DMET Tripura) and 15 under AIQ (filled by MCC). Tripura has a significant Scheduled Tribe population and approximately 50% of state quota seats are reserved for ST candidates under Tripura tribal reservation.
Approximate Cutoff Ranks — AGMC Agartala (2026 Est.)
| Route | General (Approx.) | OBC (Approx.) | ST (Approx.) |
|---|---|---|---|
| AIQ | 95,000 – 1,20,000 | 1,40,000 – 1,70,000 | 2,10,000 – 2,50,000 |
| State Quota — General | 2,00,000 – 2,80,000 | 2,60,000 – 3,50,000 | 5,00,000+ |
State Quota Eligibility — DMET Tripura
Tripura state quota requires a Permanent Resident Certificate of Tripura issued by competent state authorities, and study in a Tripura-recognised school for Class 11 and 12 (or Class 9 through 12, as specified by current DME norms). ST candidates must hold a Tripura-issued Scheduled Tribe certificate for communities notified under the Tripura tribal lists. DMET Tripura typically conducts state quota counselling in a single round — faster than Assam — making it important not to miss the registration window.
AIQ at AGMC — Open to All
The 15 AIQ seats at AGMC are open to all NEET-UG candidates via MCC counselling. Historically, AGMC AIQ cutoff for general category has been around rank 95,000–1,20,000 — more accessible than GMCH Guwahati but less accessible than TRIHMS. Tripura students with ranks in this range should include AGMC as a high-priority AIQ choice.
What If You Miss AGMC?
If your rank does not secure AGMC through AIQ or state quota, management quota in open states is the realistic next option. Karnataka, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra are the primary destinations for Tripura students pursuing private MBBS.
Karnataka: Largest private MBBS pool. FRC-regulated fees. Scores of 430+ generally qualify for management quota consideration.
Telangana: TSCHE management quota, FRC-regulated. Good option for moderate scores.
Uttar Pradesh: Large pool, FRC-regulated. Scores of 400–430 viable at some colleges.
RIMS Imphal (Manipur): 100% AIQ — 100 seats open to all candidates. Rank 70,000–85,000 general. Worth including in AIQ choice list.
Tripura ST candidates — national ST quota access
Tripura ST candidates can use their tribal certificates for the AIQ ST category at government colleges across India. AIQ ST cutoffs are significantly more relaxed than general category at many colleges outside NE India — particularly in states like Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan where AIQ ST seats regularly remain unfilled in later rounds.
2026 Counselling Timeline for Tripura Students
Timeline shifted by the NEET-UG 2026 re-exam
NTA cancelled the original 3 May 2026 NEET-UG exam after a paper-leak controversy and held a re-exam on 21 June 2026, with results expected only around 20 July 2026. Every stage below is therefore running later than in a normal year — check mcc.nic.in and dme.tripura.gov.in for confirmed dates.
Results (delayed to ~July 2026): Immediately prepare: PRC Tripura, Class 10/12 certificates, NEET scorecard, ST/OBC certificate if applicable.
Following results (expected August 2026 onward): MCC Round 1 registration. Include AGMC (AIQ), RIMS Imphal, and Assam government colleges.
A few weeks after MCC Round 1: DMET Tripura state quota counselling. Register separately. Prepare physical originals — DMET Tripura typically requires document verification at a specified reporting centre.
Later stage: MCC Mop-Up and Stray Vacancy rounds. Management quota state counsellings in Karnataka/Telangana/UP also typically run in the following months, shifted later than usual this year.
