NRI Quota Document Checklist

Missing even one document at verification can result in admission cancellation. Prepare everything well in advance. This list covers standard requirements — verify with your target college for institution-specific additions.

Student documents

  • NEET-UG 2026 admit card (original)
  • NEET-UG 2026 scorecard / rank letter
  • Class 10 mark sheet and passing certificate (original)
  • Class 12 mark sheet and passing certificate (original)
  • Class 12 transfer certificate (TC)
  • Date of birth certificate or Class 10 certificate showing DOB
  • Category certificate (SC/ST/OBC) if applicable — issued by competent authority
  • Indian passport (first and last page)
  • 8–12 passport-size photographs (recent, white background)
  • Aadhar card
  • Migration certificate (from your last institution if applicable)
  • Gap certificate (if there was a gap after Class 12)
  • Medical fitness certificate from a registered MBBS doctor

NRI / OCI relative documents

These prove the NRI/OCI status of your qualifying relative (parent, grandparent, or yourself if OCI).

  • Valid Indian passport or foreign passport (first, last, and visa pages)
  • Valid work visa / employment visa / PR card / OCI card
  • Employment contract or letter from employer abroad confirming NRI status
  • Last 3 months payslips or salary certificate from foreign employer
  • Bank statement showing foreign salary credit (last 3–6 months)
  • Proof of residence abroad (utility bill, rental agreement, or bank statement with foreign address)
  • Relationship proof between student and NRI relative (birth certificate, marriage certificate)

Attestation and apostille requirements

  • Documents from abroad (employment letters, bank statements, residence proof) should be attested by the Indian Embassy or Consulate in the country of residence.
  • For OCI cards, a photocopy attested by a Gazetted Officer in India is acceptable at most colleges.
  • All original documents must be produced at the time of admission. Photocopies alone are not accepted.
  • Get at least 5 sets of certified copies of each document. Verification processes at different colleges may retain copies.

Preparation tips

• Start collecting documents from the NRI relative as soon as NEET results are out (June/July). Foreign employment documents can take 2–4 weeks to arrange.

• Keep originals in a secure file and make 10 sets of certified photocopies — you will need them at multiple stages.

• Ensure all documents are in English. If any document is in another language, get a certified English translation.

• Carry a separate envelope for each college you are applying to, with a complete set of copies ready.
