NRI Quota Application Process
NRI quota admissions are handled directly by colleges — not through centralised state counselling. Here is how the process works, step by step.
NRI quota is direct admission, not counselling
Unlike AIQ or state quota which use centralised online counselling, NRI quota seats are filled by each college independently. You apply, submit documents, and complete admission directly with the institution. There is no centralised wait list or allotment system.

Confirm your eligibility
Verify that you or a qualifying relative (parent, grandparent) holds valid NRI/OCI status. Gather proof documents before proceeding. If uncertain, consult a counsellor.

Check your NEET score
NRI quota requires a valid NEET-UG score. The cutoff is significantly lower than general category — most qualified students with any NEET score above the qualifying cutoff (50th percentile General / 40th percentile SC-ST) can apply.

Shortlist colleges and states
Identify private medical colleges with NRI quota seats in your preferred states. Consider fees, hospital affiliation, location, NMC recognition status and your budget carefully.

Prepare documents in advance
Collect all required documents — NRI/OCI proof of the qualifying relative, NEET scorecard, category certificate, passport copies, income/employment proof of the NRI relative, bank statements, and academic records. Get attestation/apostille where required.

Apply to colleges directly
Unlike state quota (which uses centralised counselling), NRI quota admissions are typically handled directly by each college. Contact the admission cell of your target colleges, submit the application form with documents, and pay the registration fee.

Attend document verification
Most colleges call you for in-person document verification before issuing a provisional admission letter. Attend with ALL original documents plus multiple certified copies. Missing even one document can result in cancellation.

Receive provisional admission letter
On successful verification, the college issues a Provisional Admission Letter (PAL). This is your confirmation. Do NOT pay fees before receiving the PAL from the college's official admission office.

Pay fees and complete formalities
Pay the first-year fee as per the FRC-approved fee structure. Get an official receipt with college letterhead. Complete remaining formalities — medical examination, hostel application, and NMC registration application as a new student.
Timeline guidance
June–July: NEET results published. Begin eligibility check and document collection.
July–August: MCC AIQ counselling begins. NRI quota colleges start accepting applications in parallel.
August–September: Most colleges conduct document verification and issue provisional admission letters.
September–October: Classes typically begin. Admission formalities must be completed before this date.
